Meals

One of the things we pride ourselves with most at our Environmental Adventure Centres is our tasty meals! As with any army, children also march on their tummies and we have been highly complimented on our selection of meals and our dedicated chefs abilities by many groups.

All of our meals are served buffet style and are displayed attractively where teachers and children are welcome to help themselves to what ever they prefer. While no child will ever go hungry, mealtimes often serve as part of the learning experience as a whole, and many new lessons are learned! Many children who have never had the opportunity to make themselves a cup of tea, or fry their own egg, leave as enthusiastic budding chefs - watch out mom on Mothers Day!

Breakfast, served at a quarter past seven, consists of a good selection of cereals, a hot porridge, bread which can be toasted and marmalade, strawberry or apricot jam and an option of a self- cooked breakfast that consists of bacon, sausage and eggs. This is cooked on several woks around the campfire by the children themselves under the careful eye of our staff.

After our mornings activities we head back to camp to enjoy a picnic lunch which includes a roll filled with either salad, tuna, chicken mayonnaise, egg, ham or cheese, various fresh fruit, nuts, a homemade chocolate brownie, a sweet treat and a cool drink. Any special requests are very welcome and our chefs do their best to accommodate all tastes. Any special dietary requirements will be catered for with pleasure. (Prior notice most appreciated)

Dinner, served at about a quarter past six, is greatly enjoyed by both children and staff alike! Each night we start with a hearty homemade soup and crisp home-baked health bread. For our main course on the first night you can look forward to a braai of fillet, a potato bake in a mushroom sauce, garlic bread and a selection of salads. This is followed by toasted marshmallows dipped in a hot caramel sauce. Other meals include cooked dinners of chicken with a sweet and sour apricot sauce and homemade sosaties with borewors and traditional pap...what braai is complete without it?

If you have a child who is having a birthday while visiting us please let us know, it would be our pleasure to supply a birthday cake and share the special occasion!
